The water in Tahoe Keys Marina on Feb. 10 was around 40 degrees when cadet Andrew Mills jumped in wearing a dry suit. Cadets spent an afternoon in the freezing water learning the correct practices for saving the lives of those trapped in such conditions. This training is unique among fire academies and was put into place here because of the many alpine lakes in and around the Lake Tahoe Basin. Feb. 10, 2008.
